As the Supervisor of the Small Arms Centre, you will work with the Manager of Museums and Small Arms to supervise overall operations, facility rentals, partnerships and programming at the City of Mississauga’s newest Creative Hub. This recently transformed heritage site will become a unique and significant showcase for various forms of creative expression, celebrations and innovative collaborations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Facility Management Act as the primary facility lead for the Small Arms Centre Supervise the part-time events and facility operations staff, lead staff recruitment, training, development and performance management Organize regular meetings with key City stakeholders (Recreation, Parks & Forestry, Facilities and Property Management, Communications, Culture Division, Mississauga Public Libraries) to support the successful implementation of programming and events Develop ways to make the facility more accessible for artists and creatives Oversee the administration of contracts and booking agreements related to the Small Arms Facility Ensure due diligence is carried out in all areas of risk management and safety training; Serve as the City's primary liaison with the Small Arms Partnership Group Events and Programming Lead events staff, volunteers and community partners with developing and implementing Small Arms programming and events that attract residents and visitors to the facility year-round Grow and develop Small Arms programs and activities, with internal and external stakeholders, to make the facility one of Mississauga's premiere arts and culture facilities Develop and implement annual work plan and operating plans. Contribute to the development of multi-year business plans Develop and maintain risk assessments and security plans for events and programs Work with the divisional marketing team to develop annual communications plans Partnership Development Act as a liaison and resource for the community to better connect arts and culture opportunities to the Small Arms facility Develop innovative partnerships with private sector partners and cultural organizations to continuously improve the quality and profile of Small Arms events and activities Ensure the successful implementation of event and programming sponsorships for City produced Small Arms events and work with the sponsorship section to explore the feasibility of space naming sponsorships within the facility Planning and Reporting Prepare and present annual reports on the performance of Small Arms events and activities based on performance metrics that are outlined in the annual business plan for the Small Arms Centre (i.e. attendance, customer satisfaction and budget performance) Manage annual budget preparation and ensure that event and programming operations are delivered on-time and on-budget. Prepare quarterly updates on budgets and manage expense adjustments to ensure on budget year-end performance Prepare corporate reports, recommendations and updates for the Manager, Director, Commissioner and Council on various topics or issues as required Liaise and meet with elected officials, as required Other Actively participate in the Manager on Duty schedule Champion the Community Services Two-Way Communication Program within the Small Arms team Participate on Corporate, Departmental and Division Working Groups, Committees or Special Projects as required Instill a culture of compliance, accountability, continuous improvement and efficiency Ensure cross-collaboration with Culture Operations staff and other with other City divisions Perform other related functions as assigned JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Are a graduate from a recognized university or college in arts facility management, event management, communications, business administration, social sciences, or a related field Have a minimum of 3 years in a related capacity with progressively responsible leadership experience Demonstrate leadership, team building skills and an ability to work in a flexible team environment with changing priorities Have event production skills and marketing experience Demonstrate presentation skills and experience Possess a passionate understanding and commitment to Mississauga's arts and culture community Have experience working with diverse individuals, volunteers, culture groups, governance boards, and heritage groups Have exceptional leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills Have excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively liaise with the public, staff, elected officials, community groups and outside agencies; Demonstrate an ability to meet community and departmental needs Have a proven ability to work with community and business partners to deliver and develop programs and events Demonstrate budget management skills and experience Have strong political acuity, excellent judgement, analytical skills and a working knowledge of applicable legislative requirements Are proficient in MS Office Suite. A working knowledge of SAP would be an asset Must have a valid Ontario G licence with a good driving record and daily access to a vehicle Are able to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) when required.
