Athletics Communications & Events Coordinator Req #: 2018-132-VFT Location: Welland Job Classification: Support Position Type: Permanent Full-time Post Date: 12/21/18 Close Date: 1/16/19 Description Applications are invited for the position of Athletics Communications & Events Coordinator in the Athletics & Recreation department, located at the Welland Campus. The starting salary is $26.57/hour for a 35/hour work week and requires the incumbent to work through an averaging of hours work schedule as outlined in the Support Staff Collective Agreement. Reporting to the Associate Director, Athletics & Recreation, the Communications & Events Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all internal and external communication media for the Department of Athletics & Recreation. The incumbent may be responsible for coordinating game day staff for intercollegiate events, and co-coordinating special events in collaboration with other College departments. The incumbent is responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of part-time staff, setting and meeting budget and revenue targets; and related administrative duties. Additional responsibilities include representing the department as a liaison with several college divisions and supporting student placement opportunities. Duties & Responsibilities: Produce and coordinate all internal and external communication for the Department of Athletics & Recreation Maintain the department’s website, twitter feed, and other online media Act as the game day convenor for OCAA intercollegiate events; ensure events are compliant with all OCAA and CCAA regulations and policies Work closely with the Intercollegiate Coordinator to maximize the game day experience for student-athletes and fans Assist with the coordination of the National Scholar Award Bruncheon, Athletic Awards Banquet, and Hall of Fame Induction with the Intercollegiate Coordinator Work with the Associate Director of Athletics & Recreation to establish the annual budget for communications and events Required Qualifications: Minimum of a two (2) year diploma in Kinesiology, Recreation & Leisure, Physical Education, Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Event Management A minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in an education, event management, recreation and/or sport environment CPR & First Aid Certification Demonstrated problem solving skills, superior communication and writing abilities Excellent time management skills Extensive knowledge of OCAA and CCAA sports, rules, and regulations Experience working with social media and websites A Position Description Form is available for review in Human Resources during the posting period.
