Title Marketing Assistant (Festivals) Job ID 2018154 Job Status Auxiliary Position Overview The Marketing Assistant (Festival) will be primarily responsible for administrating and implementing various tasks pertaining to the Major Events & Film department. The role will also require a close working relationship in assisting the Manager, Major Events & Film and team in providing support for the upcoming summer Richmond festivals; Richmond Canada Day in Steveston, Richmond Maritime Festivals and Richmond World Festival. This position will be responsible for creating and implementing a marketing and promotion plan. To succeed in this position, you must be self-motivated, a quick learner and be able to take initiative in each task. Examples of key work activities include, but are not limited to: Develop and implement a marketing and promotion plan including digital and social media. Develop and update social media calendar. Coordinate distribution of festival collateral and installation of festival signage. Develop and manage social media content and contests. Assist with sponsorship fulfilment during the festivals. Provide direction to volunteers. Conducts research and prepares analytic reports on digital marketing for the festivals. Manage numerous projects with varying completion deadlines. Provide clerical support, as required. Education & Experience Diploma in Marketing, Public relations and/or Web Development. One to two years’ experience working in marketing or promotional role. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Experience working in community service setting is preferred. Knowledge & Skills & Abilities Knowledge of marketing strategies, market research, market planning principles Exceptional oral and written communication skills, ability to prepare and edit marketing and communication materials; composing creative copy for media releases and social media posts. Strong interpersonal skills, willing to assist co-workers in tasks but also works well independently. Ability to provide effective and timely customer service to, a variety of internal and external clients. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a variety of groups and businesses. Proven ability to multi-task in a high pressure environment and meet tight deadlines. Ability to work well under pressure and deal with stressful situations with professionalism. Ability to perform assigned duties under minimal supervision. Intermediate knowledge and skill in using City computer applications such as Outlook and Microsoft programs; ability to use REDMS or a similar records management system. Strong working knowledge of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Ability to successfully pass a Police Information Check. Preferred Qualifications Experience using Hootsuite. A valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Working Conditions and Effort Duties are performed in an office environment.
