In an industry that’s undergoing radical transformation, Goldcorp is looking for a Senior Specialist, Event Management to help further build our growing reputation in the areas of innovation, sustainability and safety. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Senior Specialist, Event Management is responsible for the company’s brand presence through events & sponsorships, awards and speaking engagements. Collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders, the successful incumbent will ensure Goldcorp is positioned as an industry leader with key strategic audiences, coordinating delivery of strategic messaging at trade, industry and recruiting events and managing the production of associated promotional content. What You’ll Do Act as an ambassador of the organization, showcasing the company’s values and culture where possible Ensure all events, sponsorships and other engagements the organization participates in are aligned with our values of safe, responsible and productive, as well as our priorities on ethics and governance, environment, people and communities Proactively seek opportunities for positive company exposure, including sponsorships and events, awards and executive speaking engagements, and promoting Goldcorp’s brand through owned, earned and bought media channels Responsible for brand activations and event coordination activities for tradeshows and events (such as Roundup, PDAC, SRI conferences and roundtables), and externally focused Goldcorp-run events (such as the Goldcorp Invitational, #DisruptMining, recruiting programs such as campus fairs and GDP info sessions) Responsible for awards application process for key industry awards and employee recognition opportunities Develop and manage aspects of Goldcorp’s corporate community investment strategy and cause marketing program, including sponsorships, employee volunteerism and engagement and the employee matching program Ensure effective sponsor activation programs and ongoing impact monitoring associated with Goldcorp’s local corporate community investment programs Work closely with third-party vendors, including agencies, printers and freelancers, as well as managing associated budgets, to ensure strategic and cost-effective use of services Responsible for record-keeping and reporting for all corporate donor/sponsor agreements and employee matching programs, including the preparation of quarterly reports Other duties as assigned Who You Are Degree or diploma in business, communications, public relations or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a communications-related or public relations role, with project management experience or training preferred. Experience in event planning and/or managing brand activations at complex, multi-national events and/or tradeshows. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and a positive ‘can do’ attitude. Ability to multi-task and prioritize; proven ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple activities of varying complexity while under time constraints. Ability to liaise with all levels of the organization and with key external stakeholders. Capable of communicating across cultures and understands the need for culturally sensitive content. Capable of handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Inquisitive and demonstrates intelligent inquiry in order to develop a better understanding of the issue at hand. A creative thinker with a sense of humour. Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
