Show Director - Sports & Events - Disney Parks Live Entertainment Apply Now Job ID 614908BR Location Kissimmee, Florida, United States Business Walt Disney World Resort Date posted 12/02/2018 As an integral part of the artistic development process, Show Directors for Disney Parks Live Entertainment at the Walt Disney World Resort are responsible for providing creative direction for the development of projects, shows, special events and conventions from inception through production, from show concept through scripts, lyrics and announcements. The Show Directors are also responsible for establishing and maintaining Entertainment Show Quality standards in partnership with WDP&R entertainment operational areas. Responsibilities The Show Director is responsible for providing creative direction for the development of concepts and execution of projects, shows and/or events from inception through production including rehearsals and performance. Accountability includes providing direction and collaborating extensively with multiple partners before and during production, including Production teams, Designers, Artists, Music Directors, Writers, Choreographers, Maintenance Choreographer, Talent Casting, Clients, Producers, and Sales Managers as appropriate. Show Directors collaborate closely with the Creative Director, Producer and/or entertainment executive in selection of creative teams and are responsible for the development of show concepts, scripts, lyrics and announcements. Other responsibilities include establishing entertainment show quality standards with the operational areas to ensure on-going show quality is maintained. Basic Qualifications Minimum of five years proven professional experience creating and directing live sports events Minimum of five years proven professional experience directing live entertainment experiences in theatre and/or directing experience in industrial show products Demonstrated knowledge of creative writing, stage performance, musical theatre, and technical theatre/stage craft Demonstrated strong grammatical knowledge Demonstrated strong computer proficiency Demonstrated ability to work professionally with diverse groups of people Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management Team player with strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude Proven excellent communication skills Demonstrated innovation and creativity Working knowledge of standard business practices and procedures Ability to understand client needs and develop ideas to meet their objectives Strong presentation skills Adaptability to wide variety of work environments Ability to understand client needs and develop ideas to meet their objectives Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize Willingness to work nights and holidays Preferred Qualifications Prior Disney experience and/or knowledge of the Disney brand Required Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in theatrical discipline Preferred Education Masters of Fine Arts in theatre field or equivalent About Walt Disney World Resort: Since opening in 1971, Walt Disney World Resort has played an important role in many childhood and family memories.
