Innovation and Community Engagement Coordinator Req #: 2019-PT-09 Location: Niagara-on-the-Lake Job Classification: Administration Position Type: Regular Part-time Post Date: 9/10/19 Close Date: 9/25/19 Description Applications are invited for a part time position of Innovation and Community Engagement Coordinator. The Innovation and Community Engagement Coordinator leads projects and initiatives within the Division of Business, Tourism & Environment, related to Niagara College’s strategic direction: Creativity, Innovative and Entrepreneurial Thinking. The Coordinator oversees projects and programming that facilitate the growth of entrepreneurship skillset among students through entrepreneurial and business development programming, mentorship, and technical expertise for start-ups and supportive resources. The Coordinator collaborates within the Niagara College community (in particular, with faculty, support staff) and with external stakeholders (for example, Niagara’s entrepreneurship ecosystem) to integrate and accelerate initiatives that further the job readiness, job placement and job creation of students. The Coordinator will work with the Associate Dean to assess new opportunities, partnerships, or issues brought forward by the NC community; assess internal requirements and available resources; engage constituents; design solutions where possible; and communicate with faculty and staff on implementation and operationalization. Key Accountabilities: Conceptualizes, integrates and coordinates the process and progress of initiatives related to creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial teaching and learning Develop courses, capstone projects, seminars, competitions to support employability skills of students Serve as an ambassador of Niagara College vision and mission in the innovation ecosystem; Lead role in the development, implementation and evaluation of community engagement events; including planning, resource identification, budget management, event promotion, event implementation and evaluation reporting; Develop and implement communication tools that will keep the college and external community informed, aware and able to connect with its members; Build and maintain professional relationships within and outside community; Required skills/abilities: Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, event planning or community engagement; An undergraduate degree, or diploma in communications, marketing or event management; Strong understanding of event planning developed through positive related work experience; Demonstrated experience managing numerous concurrent tasks while maintaining a client service focus; Knowledge and skill in the use of social media platforms; and use of website content management systems; Experience in a tight deadline driven environment Great organizational and planning skills; Superb communication skills Attention to detail; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); General experience with Adobe applications (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Experience with experiential learning platform is an asset Candidates must present proof of education (i.e., original transcripts/credentials) at time of interview.
