Manager, Conference Services (Temporary) More information about this job: Job Description: Faculty/Department: Ancillary Services Employee Group: Administrative Campus: Trafalgar (May be assigned activity at any Sheridan Campus) Payband: NL Reference Number: 17/A/11 Hiring Range: $82,508.00 - $87,664.75 Salary Range: $82,508.00 - $103,135.00 Application Deadline: Open until filled Application Details: This is a temporary contract that may continue to July 2018 Reporting to the Director, Ancillary Services, the incumbent provides leadership and management for comprehensive conference services - delivering a high standard of customer service to clients and facilitating effective use of College facilities and resources such as residence and food services. S/he assumes full operational responsibility to increase related revenue, profitability and continuous visibility of conference services. The Manager leads and manages the Conference Services team and plans, implements and evaluates outreach, marketing and promotional programs to expand Sheridan’s conference business. S/he develops and executes a marketing/sales plan to generate revenue and goodwill for Sheridan by managing the offering of excess capacity facilities to external parties, and coordinating with internal departments, contracted residence management, and other vendors in conference service delivery. S/he also implements and monitors strategic performance measurement systems to optimize processes, services, etc. Specific Responsibilities: • Developing and leading strategy implementation for the Conference Services portfolio, including plans, policies and procedures for conference services hosted by (or at) Sheridan; • Developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating strategy and operational plans to expand marketing and sales; • Executing marketing strategies within budgets, timelines and Sheridan guidelines; • Developing relationships and participating in community organizations to increase sales and awareness; • Managing Conference Services and systems (i.e. marketing, budgeting, vendor management, administration); • Ensuring effective and efficient allocation of fiscal and physical resources; • Providing leadership, guidance, direction and support to team for the successful execution of all conference services; • Performing other related projects, duties and initiatives, as assigned. Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a 3 year diploma/degree in Marketing, Events, Conference Planning, Hospitality, Business (or a related field) and 5 years of experience with conference marketing and/or sales with a proven record of achievement and success (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). The successful candidate must be able to develop and implement a marketing/sales plan to build revenue and profits and must have created original strategies to generate conference and event business in the past. Solid contract negotiation and contract management skills, proven team leadership skills, direct supervisory experience and ability to build strong working relationships is all necessary. Project management and excellent organizational skills along with the ability to work independently and manage a significant number of projects simultaneously is crucial. The successful incumbent will have strong analytical and problem solving skills, the ability to trouble shoot and manage details for clients along with excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. A high level of professionalism and diplomacy is necessary. Knowledge of the Liquor Licensing Board of Ontario Acts and conference experience in a post-secondary setting will be considered assets. Project management certification or designation is preferred.
