JOB TITLE: AV/Event Set-up Assistant (Full-Time) OVERVIEW Under the guidance of the Events Manager, the AV/Event Set-Up Assistant helps with all aspects of set-up; monitoring and breakdown of museum A/V equipment; assisting with vendor load-in, tables, chairs, and other equipment associated with events. Responsible for setting up and running Museum AV equipment and videotaping as applicable during events. Under the guidance of the Multi-Media Producer, occasionally assist with basic video editing of Museum lectures and trainings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to lift at least 50lbs for set up and tear down of tables, chairs, and other special event objects needed for event. Assist and follow through with contracted details with Events Manager Run and maintain audio and A/V equipment for Museum events and day-to-day Museum needs (meeting room projector, assist with LED screens running BrightSign players, etc.) Maintain inventory of all Event, audio and A/V supplies and equipment Provide troubleshooting solutions to Museum and Event clients Attend weekly Events meetings and periodic training such as A/V instruction and customer service Work schedule must be flexible, but will include both weekday and weekend hours, sometimes exceeding an 8-hour workday. In down times from Events Department needs, assist Multimedia Producer with video editing projects Maintain technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies; attending workshops KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Below is an inclusive but not exhaustive list of various knowledge, skills, and other characteristics that are necessary for effective performance in this position. Working knowledge of MS Office Working knowledge of A/V equipment (such as mixers, microphones, Crestron Digital Media AV system or similar) Excellent attention to detail Ability to troubleshoot AV/events equipment and responsibilities in high pressure situations Strong customer service skills Ability to be a team player and facilitate good communication and cooperation among co-workers, vendors and clients Become familiar with the policies and procedures associated with events Ability to establish priorities, balance demands of multiple projects and meet deadlines Must provide reliable transportation.
