National Events & Communications Coordinator Creative City Network of Canada Deadline : August 1, 2017 Job description : The Creative City Network of Canada (CCNC) has a strong history of offering high-quality professional development experiences for its members through the annual national Creative City Summits that attract over 200 people from across the country. The National Events & Communications Coordinator will build on this legacy using the established frameworks to provide overall coordination and communication for the event from start to finish. Reporting to the General Manager, the National Events & Communications Coordinator will be responsible for all content and communications for the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES: Your primary responsibilities as National Events & Communications Coordinator will be varied, but you will be expected to: Under the direction of the General Manager, the national Summit Committee Chair, and the Summit Committee, be the administrative lead for the overall design, programming, and delivery of the annual national Creative City Summit. Build CCNC event revenue through attracting audiences, generating registrations, and identifying sponsorship opportunities including in-kind or donated materials and services. You will also effectively manage event expenses, and work with the General Manager to negotiate event contracts. Coordinate all relevant logistics related to events including registration, room rental, catering, audio visual, insurance, signage, delegate materials, speakers, programming, on-site transportation, on-site volunteer management, event communications and archival materials, thank you letters and gifts to sponsors, funders, presenters, host community, volunteers, planning committee, and others as appropriate. Provide on-site direction and event coordination at the Summit, and all concurrent activities or adjoining activities such as the pre-conference, network meetings, annual general meeting, study tours, and evening events that will take place in Halifax, NS, from October 18-20, 2017, to ensure that the event activities take place on-time, and on-budget. Work on other relevant in-person events as required, such as assisting with the planning of future Creative City Summits, CCNC Regional Meetings, as well as virtual events. Grow and maintain the CCNC website with drafting content, uploading relevant updates, career development and public art postings, and maintaining the members' portal. Develop engaging web and social media content (FB, Twitter, etc.). Contribute to the research, preparation and distribution of monthly e-newsletters. Grow virtual networks through the organization’s ListServ. Provide graphic design support for the website and digital presentation mediums, as well as event marketing materials, programs, membership materials, and development of sponsorship packages. KEY QUALIFICATIONS: Your application for the role of National Events and Communication Coordinator should describe your qualifications as they relate to: University Degree or College Diploma in one of the following areas: Not-for-Profit Arts or Cultural Administration, Event Management, Marketing, Communications or equivalent qualifications. 3+ years of experience in conference and/or special event planning, project management, program planning and financial management. Understanding of local, provincial, national and international cultural environment (agencies & government), funding programs and process. Strong desire to serve the professional development needs of the network by being aware of the major issues and topics of interest, and driving engaging adult learning opportunities. Proven ability to lead the development of high-profile, national events of significant scale. Excellent financial management practices and experience working with not-for-profit organizations, while also bringing entrepreneurial savvy and creative problem solving. A record of successful experience working in virtual teams and working through virtual networks including developing engaging content on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Strong customer service skills with an ability to professionally represent a high-profile organization in meetings, through presentations, and excellent public speaking and emcee skills. Ability to develop work plans, establish priorities, solve problems, and work within deadlines. Must be able to attend the National Creative City Summits. Language: Excellent verbal and written English. French is desirable but not required.
