About Magnet Magnet is a not-for-profit social innovation founded by Ryerson University.It is a collaborative hub of post-secondary institutions, not-for-profits, government, labour, and industry partners working together on one common platform, towards one common goal: to address unemployment and underemployment of Canadians. The Opportunity We are currently seeking a creative and organized Project Manager to manage and oversee special projects and associated industry projects related to the priorities of the Magnet Project . You will conceptualize, define, and implement projects within the constraints of a fixed budget. Your written and oral communication skills will be on full display at Magnet. Report writing and presentations are central to this role. You will represent Magnet at various events and speak about the platform’s capabilities to support the project(s) at hand. You will manage stakeholders and project partners to achieve project deliverables. You will need to balance the requirements of project funders with the realities of implementation. Quick thinking and problem solving will serve you well in this role. Responsibilities: Manages and oversees special projects, from project planning to implementation within the constraints of a fixed budget. Short and long-range strategic planning and conducts research for project. Manages project staff, including hiring, training and deliverables. Develops and maintains networks with current and potential stakeholders. Organizes and participates in seminars, symposiums, workshops and conferences.   Qualifications Successful completion of a post-graduate degree, preferably in business administration or related discipline and a minimum of five (5) years experience in a project leadership role, preferably in business development or managing complex projects Strong project management skills, including financial, business management and marketing skills to manage projects, draft budget proposals, forecast expenses and monitor relevant research and contract accounts Effective verbal and written communication skills for project reporting and facilitating client and team meetings Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and motivate teams, and inspire members to innovate while performing on budget and on schedule Demonstrated organizational skills and an ability to multi-task are fundamental to pro-actively manage the day-to-day operations of the projects Strong event management and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver engaging and informative presentations that clearly explain technical information to non-technical audiences and clients Strong interpersonal skills, relationship-buiding skills and ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, faculty and external stakeholders Demonstrated commitment to client service Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps Strong time management and organizational skills are required to effectively prioritize and handle a large volume of work with multiple conflicting deadlines Strong ability to manage change   Notes: Candidates may be asked to demonstrate qualifications through occupational testing as a first step in the evaluation process prior to being granted an interview.
