Reporting to the Sponsorship & Events Manager this position is responsible for supporting the execution of Second Harvest’s events portfolio. Specifically, this role supports the production of campaign and third-party events activations, engagement events and secures gift-in-kind prizing for all Second Harvest auctions and raffles. The Sponsorship & Events Coordinator will work collaboratively with all departments to help ensure the success of the signature annual fundraiser Toronto Taste, Community Events, the Hero Campaign, and overall achievement of fundraising targets. Status: Full-time Location: Toronto, ON ABOUT SECOND HARVEST: This is an opportunity to play a key role in the continued success and growth of the largest food rescue program in Canada. Since 1985 we have rescued and delivered more than 127 million pounds of food and prevented over 70 million pounds of greenhouse gas equivalents from entering our atmosphere. Currently, Second Harvest rescues food from over 470 donors and delivers that food to 253 social service agencies in Toronto and food hubs across Ontario, providing enough food for 30,000 meals a day. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Research, develop and cultivate new corporations and partners with the intent to meet their business objectives while representing all ways to support Second Harvest corporately (i.e. sponsorship, employee engagement, event participation, cause related marketing, promotion) • Support prospect research and outreach to corporate prospects • Support the Sponsorship and Events Manager with the drafting of sponsorship and corporate proposals, agreements and fulfillment reports • Provide support to the Sponsorship and Events Manager on fulfilling program deliverables and ensuring processes are streamlined • Support the development of compelling proposals and presentations for prospective partnerships • Solicit in kind sponsorship to help reduce expenses and drive net revenue • Secure gift-in-kind prizing for all Second Harvest auctions and raffles through letters, phone calls, emails and visits, coordinating volunteer efforts to do the same and supports the achievement of prize value targets • Secure gift-in-kind prizing for corporate and school fundraising incentive programs • Act as a key staff member on-site at all Second Harvest events during set-up, execution and tear-down • Support major functions of event wrap-up, including reporting and inventory • Support the Development team in the execution of promotional events, engagement events and public-facing fundraising activities • Execute community event partnerships, coordinating with internal stakeholders including Communications and Volunteer team to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of contractual commitments • Other related duties as required CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS: • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in other specialized training and experience • Fundraising certificate or specialized training a major asset • 1-2 years or more progressive experience in corporate or non-profit fundraising event management • Demonstrated experience in supporting the planning and implementing of special events • Demonstrated success in securing sponsorship for events and programs • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines • Experience in soliciting donors and prospects for financial and/or in-kind requests • Proven track record of sound strategic planning and ability to meet revenue targets • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key stakeholders including corporate partners and volunteers • Excellent working knowledge of the media landscape, understanding of social media activation and community engagement • Computer literacy, including strong working skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required • Experience working with a donor management database For more information about Second Harvest, visit: www.secondharvest.ca TO APPLY: Please submit your resume and cover letter on or before October 21, 2018 via email, with “SPONSORSHIP AND EVENTS COORDINATOR” in the subject line, to humanresources@secondharvest.ca.
