Manager, Provincial Special Events Toronto, ON, CA Worker Category :Regular Full Time CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY JOB POSTING POSITION: Manager, Provincial Special Events REPORTS TO: VP, Run for the Cure, Relay For Life (ON) & Youth LOCATION: Toronto, ON STATUS: Regular, Full Time POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Vice President, Run for the Cure, Relay For Life (ON) and Youth, and based in the Toronto office, the Manager , Provincial Special Events, leads the successful planning and execution of special events in Ontario. The successful candidate will work with colleagues from across the province to develop and deliver strategies that increase efficiency, maximize revenue and minimize cost of fundraising. The position also supports provincial event evaluation and is responsible for making strategic recommendations within the portfolio. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Creates, manages and executes multifaceted project plans for provincial events within the portfolio. Works collaboratively with community office staff to develop strategies and tactics that will drive revenue and participant numbers. Builds and implements a successful participant acquisition and stewardship strategy. Works with cross-functional partners including Corporate Partnerships, Information Management, Purchasing, Digital, Marketing and Communications to manage and execute critical event related tactics Builds collaborative relationships with all key stakeholders including staff, volunteers, vendors, and other key partners; ensures timely and effective customer service to meet their needs. Ensures provincial plans and deadlines are followed through and delivered accordingly. Creates materials and deliver training modules for staff and volunteers as required. Collaborates with Volunteer Programs Team to create leadership volunteer roles that are attractive to the general public and lead to self-sufficient, results oriented organizing committees. Leads the development of internal and external communications plans. Provides in-depth post-event analysis and reports to evaluate the overall success of each event. Make recommendations on short and long-term strategies for new opportunities to increase revenue and enhance the participant experience. Evaluates suite of provincial events on an annual basis, making strategic recommendations for expansion and/or discontinuation of provincial events Monitors and evaluates current special event trends through networking and research. Other duties/projects as assigned. Fiscal Management Responsibilities Monitors and tracks revenue and expense budgets to ensure adherence to financial policies and controls. Health and Safety Responsibilities Works in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations. (Reviews and complies with the Health and Safety Policy. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Proven experience in managing complex, multi-site fundraising events, with revenue targets over $500,000. Post-secondary education in a related discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years progressive work experience in special events and/or fundraising. Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to develop work plans and adhere to deadlines Ability to utilize metrics and analyze data to make strategic recommendations. Advanced written and verbal communication skills Negotiation, problem-solving and diplomacy skills to resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated knowledge of diverse types of fundraising events including peer-to-peer fundraising. Excellent time management and organization skills. Ability to multitask and remain flexible with changing priorities. Demonstrated experience in problem solving and good judgment. Positive attitude and the ability to take responsibility and be accountable. Strong leadership skills. Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel) and SharePoint. Experience in using on-line fundraising platforms such as Luminate Online, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge is an asset. Experience in a multi-level organization and working with colleagues in remote offices is an asset. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works with confidential issues and data. Occasional periods of extended travel and hours of work, including evenings and weekends. PHYSICAL/ MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: May sit for extended periods. Involves significant computer use. May require packing and unpacking of materials up to 20 lbs.
