The Opportunity: Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Walk Coordinator, in partnership with the organizing committees, will be accountable for successfully executing all logistics related to the annual Walk for Arthritis in Winnipeg to ensure an outstanding fundraising event. Specifically, he/she will: Promote the Walk, assisting communications staff to execute local marketing plans. Implement recruiting strategies to drive registration, participation and fundraising for the event. Work with our revenue development team to secure sponsorships and event vendors. Develop unique features for the event to attract participants. Provide leadership and support to staff, Walk committee members and volunteers, keeping them engaged and motivated. Track, evaluate and report on all Walk activities in accordance with organizational practices, collecting and collating data/metrics as required. Required Skills and Experience: The successful candidate will possess a university degree or diploma in event planning, fundraising or a relevant discipline with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience gained within a fast-paced environment. He/she will be extremely driven, enthusiastic and proactive, with a real passion for fundraising events. Demonstrated success motivating and stewarding volunteers and donors is a must. Public relations, social media and volunteer management skills are an asset. The successful candidate will be highly computer literate, with excellent Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge skills. Experience working within a budget and securing sponsorship for events is desirable. French language skills are an asset. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends will be required, with regular access to a vehicle necessary. Please note that this contract position shall run from early February 2019 until mid- June 2019 , with the required candidate working thirty-five (35) hours per week, between Monday and Friday inclusive.
