About the Position:
The Senior Manager, Events role is responsible for developing marketing strategies and executing project plans for a myriad of event programs, including Ceridian’s annual customer conference.
Reporting to the Director of Events, this role will operate in a leadership role, managing multiple projects and demonstrating critical thinking through the evaluation of new and existing events to ensure increased market awareness, demand generation and increased qualified lead activity. This role continuously interacts with sales, product management, and other marketing functions, building strong partnerships and ensuring strategies and activities are in alignment with business goals. Therefore, this individual will bring strong relationship building skills, be highly organized, know how to delegate and motivate a team, as well influence others in the absence of authority in title.
As an important part of the team, this individual should be analytical, flexible, calm under pressure with an ability to solve problems in real time. This individual will consistently work with the team to find ways to improve current programs both in terms of cost savings and generating innovative ideas to refresh programs year-over-year. People leadership, performance and development are top priorities for this role.
Provide strategic direction and oversee the execution of events including Ceridian’s annual customer conference, sales kick off, and strategic internal events
Proactively builds working relationships with sales leaders and product leaders in assigned areas of the business
Responsible for leading cross-functional briefings and production meetings
Present strategic and tactical event plans to senior leaders and the CMO with recommendations, new ideas and opportunities
Create, implement and maintain appropriate metrics to evaluate impacts and effectiveness of events
Develop, manage, and implement annual and project-based events plans and budgets to meet business objectives and expectations
Recruit, train and develop a team with skills and experience aligned to meet departmental and corporate objectives
Manage team performance per requirements and objectives for all direct reports
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field Advanced degree a plus
Seven plus years of marketing and/or product marketing experience, including demonstrated career progression
Meticulous and detail oriented, with a service mindset
Experience managing a diverse team both within and outside of the department
Proven track record of developing and executing marketing plans which resulted in positive business outcomes
Proven business-to-business communication and writing skills
Must be comfortable and adept at speaking and presenting in front of an audience
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize a high volume of projects
High level of self-motivation and the ability to work independently without constant supervision
Advanced ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Adobe Suite and Internet browsers
Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines
Cool, calm under pressure
Ability to work with cross-functional groups within and outside the organization
Must be able to travel internationally. Travel is required (up to 50%)
