Communications Officer, Consumer Outreach and Events   Department: Communications Location: 777 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario Status: Full Time Posting Date: 2018-09-18T04:00:00Z     Job Summary The Communications Officer, Consumer Outreach and Events is adept at managing event logistics. He or she is also a strong writer with a high degree of attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities. The Communications Officer, Consumer Outreach and Events is creative, enthusiastic and resourceful.  He or she is extremely well organized, and can manage a number of projects simultaneously, including events, sponsorships, and speaking engagements. ​Essential Functions Assists in coordinating IBC's participation in external events (as assigned) including symposiums, conferences, receptions, and booth displays. The majority of events that IBC participates in are external events Assists in coordinating   IBC's internal events (as assigned), including symposiums, conferences, receptions, and staff meetings Creates run sheets for external and internal events Assists in sourcing and booking venues for IBC meetings and events, including negotiation of contracts Assists Manager in  researching speaking and sponsorship opportunities that align with industry issues, including adaptation to severe weather, insurance crime, road safety, injury prevention and regulation Assists with the maintenance of the calendar of speaking engagements and sponsorship events Develops relationships with IBC staff and internal clients. Assists Manager with requests for IBC's in-the-community displays: e.g., SafetyMobile, Dry House Experience and Qualifications Exceptional event planner with demonstrated ability to manage every detail of an event: strategy behind event, quality of presentations, audiovisual, room logistics, catering, registration, etc. Minimum 3-5  years' experience in corporate communications/public relations/event planning Experience managing external suppliers Diplomatic and tactful, both in dealing with internal departments and executives, and with event planners from other organizations Experience in ensuring ideal placement of corporate brand at events Adaptable to change and ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines Extremely well organized, superb attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills Proficient with PowerPoint Enjoys working in a fast-paced work environment Collaborative and team-oriented – this position is a key member of the Communications team and works closely with many departments and regional offices across IB Knowledge of Toronto venues an asset Understanding of trade associations and their relationship to government  Minimal travel required Knowledge of P&C insurance an asset Bilingual (English and French) an asset Please send résumé to: Human Resources Department Contact: Azan Khan E-mail: careers@ibc.ca   IBC is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities.
