TITLE Events Coordinator, National Championships REPORTS TO Senior Manager, Events LOCATION 237 Metcalfe Street, Ottawa, ON OVERVIEW Canada Soccer is seeking a dynamic individual with a passion for event management to join the Events Department to assist with planning and execution of a variety of national events. The focus of this position will be to coordinate the Association’s premier amateur events ranging from National Championships to Masters. Primary responsibilities will include coordinating travel for participating teams, working with Local Organizing Committees to deliver events, preparing briefings on new concepts, and providing general administration support to the organization. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES As part of the Event Management Unit, the Events Coordinator will perform the following related tasks but are not restricted to: • Organizes the National Championships and works closely with Local Organizing Committees (LOC) to ensure delivery standards are met • Coordinates the Futsal National Championships and event delivery onsite • Works with LOCs to deliver the Masters Championships • Supports the competition requirements for maintaining the competition regulations; coordinate all internal functional areas as it relates to staging of championships, liaise with participating clubs • Develops and finalizes schedules for all National Championships in accordance with the regulations • Produces concepts of operations for LOC and reviews in detail the submission received in the lead up to a championship • Books all air travel for teams participating at the National Championships • Coordinates the bidding procedures for all National Championships • Develops content and leads workshops on National Championship education and readiness • Provides logistic services and support to all Canada Soccer programmes including accreditation, transportation arrangements, and event equipment inventory • Update event management handbook and documents for all National Championships on an ongoing basis • Provides advice on Canada Soccer Sanctioning requirements for amateur club matches held in Canada and coordinates and approves team travel application forms • Provide support as required to visiting teams, match officials and others for International matches • Staff liaison for the Competitions Committee • Works with other community stakeholders to confirm technical packages for various events • Supports other event department related activity on an ongoing basis • May be required to work weekends and extended hours during busy periods travel will be required • Respond to general public enquiries regarding upcoming events REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES Essential : • University degree or college diploma in management and administration, recreation or a related discipline • A minimum of 2-3 yrs experience in sports administration • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail • Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Demonstrated experience of working with and supporting volunteers • Ability to work with minimal supervision • A valid driver’s license is required Preferred : • Knowledge of the Canadian Soccer Structure Nationally and Provincially • Experience in developing and delivering content • Bilingualism would be considered an asset for this position GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANTS Please submit your cover letter and résumé along with salary expectations to firstname.lastname@example.org before noon ET 30 January, 2019.
