Affectionately known as the Urban Angel, St. Michael’s is renowned for providing exceptional patient care. As downtown Toronto’s adult trauma centre, the hospital is a hub for neurosurgery, complex cardiac and cardiovascular care, diabetes and osteoporosis care, minimally invasive surgery and care of the homeless and disadvantaged. Funds are used to support priority areas as defined by the hospital including the purchasing of equipment, renovations, new facilities, research and educational priorities The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which includes members of the business and professional community. The Foundation raises funds from a variety of initiatives: annual giving; special events; major and planned gifts.  The Philanthropy Coordinator – Special Events, assists with the planning, organizing, implementation and evaluation of fundraising events taking place in support of the foundation which includes, signature events, third party events, event committee support and documentation, planning and maintaining up-to-date records, data and working plans including the out of the rough golf tournament, Wings of Hope and other ad hoc third-party or hybrid events. Specific Responsibilities: Prepare, track and update critical path for, signature and third-party events. Develop and coordinate production of event related materials for signature and third-party events including invitations, event programs, group mailings, meeting materials, solicitation letters, meeting notes and other correspondence. Develop, produce and track sponsor solicitation packages and letters for signature and third-party events. Act as central point of correspondence or contact for committees which may include SMYL, Third Party and signature committee members and corporate donors, outside organizations, suppliers and vendors. Develop all logistical and other details associated with the planning and execution of successful events, including catering, day-of-event logistics, appropriate donor recognition, donations processing and acknowledgements. Monitor and document event financials and budget. Manage all aspects of volunteer coordination for Signature and third-party events including recruitment of volunteers, selection, placement, orientation, training, communication and stewardship. Implement Corporate Sponsorships and sponsorship activities at events. Organize event raffles and auctions as applicable. Demonstrated proficiency working with computer applications on a Windows platform (Word, Excel, Power Point, electronic mail/scheduling, internet) Previous experience working with databases (particularly Raiser’s Edge) and desktop publishing is an asset.
