Event Manager in VANCOUVER, Canada

The Event Manager is responsible for selling and servicing events. Primary sales efforts are in Banquet Food and Beverage and include menu planning, agenda setting and hotel meeting services. Duties also include contract review and facilitating communication before, during and post event with pertinent hotel staff to ensure a high level of service.

The Event Manager also host site inspections, maintain strong customer relationships, participate and may lead event meetings and other staff meetings, and work as a team member with the sales and event staff. The manager also works closely with an assigned Administrative Assistant and other support staff.

The position demands excellent communication and analytical skills, and the ability to maintain the highest of food & beverage service standards. This position works well under pressure, is organized, flexible, creative, and self-motivated.

Visa Requirements: * *Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

* Must have a true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment * Candidates should be extremely detail oriented, organized and with excellent interpersonal and administrative skills * Must have at least two years hotel experience or completed Events/Catering Management trainee program * Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds * Must possess the following strengths: high energy, motivational leader, proven track record in high volume property, effective communicator and effective in providing exceptional customer service and associate relations, and the ability to improve the bottom line * Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language * Must have excellent forward planning and decision making skills * Must possess a high standard of professionalism * Must be able to allocate resources and trust others to take authority and responsibility * Must have excellent presentation skills * Must be proficient in Microsoft Office * Previous experience in Opera, Hyatt EMS / Envision would be an asset
