Communicators Director

 

About the Role

The Communications Director develops PuSh’s annual integrated marketing strategy, leads and implements communications and marketing initiatives, including: researching and writing copy for the Festival Program Guide, working with the Festival graphic designers and other outside vendors, hiring and managing the communications staff, managing social media initiatives, and managing the festival communications budget. The Communications Director reports to the Managing Director and works closely with the Artistic & Executive Director and the Development Director.

You will be a member of the senior management team, working closely with the managing director and artistic & executive director to develop strategic priorities for the organization. As a senior manager, you will represent the PuSh Festival at meetings and events, and conduct presentations, for key stakeholders. The role is supported by, and responsible for managing, one year-round coordinator role, as well as independent contractors and suppliers.

You will be part of a high-performing, collaborative, vibrant, and highly engaged team. The PuSh Festival sets a high bar for the artistic work we present, and the operational work of our team. We are recognized locally, nationally, and internationally as a leader in Vancouver’s cultural scene, and we are committed to placing art at the centre of city’s identity and cultural policy. About You

You have experience with communications and marketing for a nonprofit arts organization. Maybe you are an experienced communications professional looking for the opportunity to be more creative in your work or build your own programs. Maybe you’re a specialist and want to branch out. Maybe you’d like to apply your talents to an organization with attitude and that isn’t afraid to experiment.

Maybe you are in the process of honing newly acquired marketing skills and are ready to take on a larger role with bigger responsibilities. Regardless, you can demonstrate the right combination of professional skills and aptitude. You have a professional manner, an outgoing personality and an ability to create mutually beneficial relationships with all kinds of potential stakeholders.

You must be an excellent writer, a persuasive communicator, a confident presenter, organized and results-oriented. You enjoy the performing arts. You enjoy learning and being part of a passionate, collaborative team. You understand the importance of developing data-driven strategies and you’re interested in tracking trends and customer behaviour. You pay attention to deadlines and have top-notch computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Photoshop, WordPress, and digital marketing platforms. You have a minimum of three to five years experience in communications and marketing.

 

About PuSh

The PuSh International Performing Arts Festival is one of Vancouver’s signature events. Produced over three weeks each January, the PuSh Festival presents groundbreaking work in the live performing arts.

With an average annual budget of $1.8 million, our yearly sales revenue target is $200,000.

The PuSh Festival expands the horizons of Vancouver artists and audiences with work that is visionary, genre-bending, multi-disciplined, startling and original. The Festival showcases acclaimed international, Canadian and local artists and mixes them together with an alchemy that inspires audiences, rejuvenates artists, stimulates the industry and forges productive relationships around the globe.

The Festival is a broker of international partnerships, a meeting place for creative minds, a showcase of Canada’s best, and an incubator of brilliant new work.

 

Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time employment position. Salary range is $48,000 – $52,000 and compensation package that includes extended health benefits.
