Temporary Full-Time Position (9 months)

The Canadian War Museum (CWM) is looking for an experienced Special Events and Media Coordinator, to join its Corporate Affairs and Development Division. Reporting to the Director, Public Affairs, Major Gifts and Sponsorship, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and executing the logistics for a variety of special events including VIP, media, fundraising, and donor events;
  • Providing assistance and coordination with respect to media relations activities;
  • Coordinating VIP tours for dignitaries (domestic and foreign), the military and cultural and political communities;
  • Promoting awareness of the Canadian War Museum.


Successful candidates have the following qualifications, which are a deciding measure of success for this challenging opportunity:


A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in:

  • Organizing and coordinating special events;
  • Coordinating media events and activities;
  • Dealing with VIPs, military personnel, dignitaries;
  • Coordinating numerous projects simultaneously;
  • Creating and coordinating communication and media projects;
  • Performing general office duties.


Knowledge of:

  • General office practices;
  • Organizing and coordinating special events ;
  • Organizing and coordinating media events;
  • Rules of protocol;
  • CMH organizational structure;
  • Mandate and priorities of CWM;
  • Media relations.


Education: College diploma in a subject related to public affairs or event planning and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: $54,771 - $70,593 (Job classification: E5)
