Job Description

Colorectal Cancer Canada (“CCC”) is a non-profit patient organization dedicated to colorectal cancer awareness and education, supporting patients and their families and advocating on their behalf.  CCC is comprised of volunteers, members, and management led by a board of directors.  An expert medical advisory board, made up of top healthcare professionals in the field of colorectal cancer, provides counsel to the CCC to ensure members are kept abreast of the latest medical advances in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Colorectal Cancer Canada is seeking an experienced Event Assistant for the Toronto office to assist with our national walk and annual golf tournament. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a background in events.  To be successful in this role, you must be highly organized and an effective multi-tasker with well-developed communication skills, discretion, sound judgment and professionalism.

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Event Manager, this is a contract position available in Toronto immediately and will be in effect until July 31, 2019. 

Duties and responsibilities of the Event Assistant include but are not limited to:

·       Assist with event concept, planning and onsite execution

·       Website maintenance

·       Acting as a liaison between the Event Manager and walk leads

·       Email correspondence

·       Scheduling in Outlook

·       Assisting with logistics

·       Assist with securing new park locations

·       Park permits and insurance

·       Maintain database of attendees and sponsors

·       Assist with recruitment and coordination of volunteers


Qualifications and Experience:

·       Minimum 3 years event management experience

·       Proficiency in social media

·       Familiarity with Constant Contact

·       Availability to be on site on event dates

·       Ability to multi-task

·       Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

·       Comfortable working on projects both in a team atmosphere and independently

·       Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner

·       Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite including MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

·       Knowledge of Raisin is an asset
