Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Fundraising, the Fundraising Events Specialist is responsible for generating and increasing agency revenue through established signature fundraising events. This individual is highly organized, results-driven, and passionate about creating exceptional event experiences for donors, sponsors, participants, and volunteers.


  • Initiate, develop, and implement strategies to increase net revenue from YWCA signature fundraising events including WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES® and The Rose Campaign in coordination with the Fundraising Team
  • Serve as the agency’s leader in the field of event management, monitoring trends to ensure the agency benefits from current knowledge, resources, and techniques
  • Execute logistics of event critical paths, making adjustments as necessary
  • Solicit, engage, and steward event sponsors in coordination with the fundraising team
  • Manage and provide reports on event budgets
  • Actively solicit, engage, and steward corporate giving through sponsorship and participation together with the fundraising team
  • Maintain relationships with sponsors to ensure all commitments are fulfilled by both parties
  • Manage all fundraising event volunteer recruitment, training, supervision, and recognition
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:

  • Passion for the mission and goals of YWCA Edmonton
  • Minimum 5 years direct experience in fundraising event planning
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Volunteer Coordination
  • Post-Secondary education in a related field (equivalent experience will be considered)
  • Ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, and other key stakeholders
  • Solutions-focused, with a customer service orientation and the ability to proactively identify and manage challenges
  • Strong organizational skills to determine work priorities and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail
  • High level of professionalism and drive, with an enthusiasm and passion for delivering results
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products; knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database The Raiser’s Edge is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and management
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • A valid drivers license, access to a personal vehicle, and willingness to travel as required
  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Able to provide a clear Intervention Record Check

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time permanent position of 30 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate the schedules of events, donors, and volunteers
