Resources for the Future (RFF) is an independent, nonprofit research institution in Washington, DC. Our mission is to improve environmental, energy, and natural resource decisions through impartial economic research and policy engagement.

We’re looking for an innovative events professional to execute high-profile live events that serve as an extension of RFF’s vital research. This individual will play a crucial role in elevating our organizational profile and brand by organizing and executing 10-15 public events a year.  Candidates with a strong work ethic, an interest or background in the fields of environmental, energy, and natural resource policy, and who share RFF’s mission and organizational values, will be particularly well suited to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of creative, impactful, and lively policy events for RFF that help to elevate the organization’s public profile and further our goal of improving environmental, energy, and natural resource decisions.
  • Coordinate all logistical details for all RFF events, including but not limited to securing venue, A/V equipment, catering, photography, event staging and design, and printing.
  • Maintain event plans and event budgets on a regular basis.
  • Serve as main point of contact the day-of each public event and problem solve when challenges arise to ensure smooth execution of the events.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with external vendors and stakeholders to ensure quality of service.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Hospitality, Journalism, Public Policy, or a related field.  2-4 years relevant event experience is preferable.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, ability to foster strong relationships with partners and vendors, creative solution orientation, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced and changing environment, and excellent time-management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.  Ability to work in a changeable setting, with variable pressures and responsibilities.
  • Strong aesthetic and design sensibilities. Any past experience in Adobe Creative Cloud or similar design products would be helpful.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills. Experience using Asana or similar project management tools would be highly beneficial in this role.
  • The ability and desire to collaborate closely with fellow communications and policy professionals.
  • Accustomed to communicating with a high level of professionalism amongst event speakers and attendees.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Candidates with an interest or background in the fields of environmental, energy, and natural resource policy, and who share RFF’s mission and organizational values, will be particularly well suited to the role.

All interested applicants for this role should submit a thoughtful cover letter and current resume via www.rff.org/about/careers. We look for candidates who are already authorized to work in the U.S. and are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this position.

Salary is competitive. RFF benefits include a collegial environment, 20 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 3 days family medical leave, 10 holidays, medical insurance, educational assistance, and commuter benefits.

Due to the anticipated volume of interest, we are unable to respond to telephone or email inquiries regarding this position.

RFF is an equal opportunity employer. Women, minorities and veterans are encouraged to apply.
