We are looking for an AV and Event Production Engineer that will join our Communications team at Spotify. This team delivers technical event support, audio production and video production across multiple locations in a fast-paced, technology based global environment. We provide executive level support for global Town Halls, provide a full production service for both video and audio. Some examples of our work include: narrative videos, event videos, product or training videos and podcasts. We manage broadcasts, studio shoots, live mix audio and lights for both in house and external bands, run a range of different events both in house and offsite, train internal users how to self-service and provide post-production services in an ‘end-to-end’ support package. 

This person will be part of a New York team who will need to be aware and manage troubleshooting of various systems including but not limited to networks, video and audio equipment, video shoots and live performances. You will be supported by teams located in Stockholm, London and LA so strong communication and time management skills are essential.

What you’ll do

  • Work as part of a global team, and keep daily contact to make sure strategy and alignment remain on a global scale 
  • Support technical event planning and coordination with stakeholders, vision mixing, audio mixing for multiple live events (local and global) with a multi-camera setup
  • Guide stakeholders through pre-production of video and audio projects, with a treated script and set deadline
  • Produce and execute polished and exciting video productions with a Spotify voice
  • Create digital assets for live and video productions
  • Maintain and build working agreements with external production vendors
  • Record, edit and deliver well produced podcasts
  • Make sure stage equipment, video conferencing systems, and other IT/AV related equipment in our event areas are functioning for all employees
  • Live mix audio and lights for live performances, maintain backline equipment, interpret riders and set/meet expectations
  • Set up and run AV for offsite live streaming productions, both as part of a team and on your own
  • Provide staff training sessions on use of equipment on an as-needed, ongoing basis
  • Build written/video support training materials for staff and comprehensive documentation for internal troubleshooting
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Proactively handle issues when they occur and follow up to assure completion
  • Recommend improved workflows to better processes and efficiencies

Who You Are

  • At least 5 years experience in a video/event and production-tech related field
  • You have basic IT skills such as front-end customer service experience, security and password management, digital archiving, and ticketing systems (such as JIRA)
  • You are a strong communicator in English, both written and verbal, comfortable with messaging Tech, Executive Level, and company-wide comms
  • You have videography experience with pre-production, filming and post-production producing a high quality full video package from inception to delivery
  • You have director of photography experience keeping up with trends for lenses, lighting and camera equipment
  • You have an excellent understanding of post-production and effects workflows in the Adobe suite as well as other post-production programs
  • You have a good understanding of the Adobe design suite and can create and edit digital assets on the fly
  • You have a calm and professional manner during executive level stakeholder events, juggling multiple disciplines and being able to pivot priority during times of change
  • You have stage maintenance experience and troubleshooting skills
  • You are familiar with setting up and controlling cameras, presentations on stage and how to control video mixers and live streaming
  • You have basic knowledge in how to live audio mix mic feeds and live bands, both for PA and aux channels for streaming
  • You have experience with media servers and storage
  • You love providing superb customer service to our user base

  • You are an analytical troubleshooter. You may not have the answer, but you want to and know how to find it.
