The Role

The VP, Meetings, Recognition & Creative provides strategic leadership to the Meetings, Recognition/Business Development and the Creative team developing a vision and strategy which creates differentiated experiences, with operational discipline and an emphasis on the customer.  The ideal candidate will interact with all levels within the organization including C-suite level; and demonstrate strong Communication, Executive Presence, and Interpersonal Skills. 

 

Experience should include a strategic approach to:

  • Meetings and Events: Leading event planning team to determine, develop and implement conferences and meetings for the enterprise with a customer centric approach.
  • Recognition/Business Development: Creating tailored high-end experiences for our top employees and producers. Domestic and International experience preferred.
  • Creative Leadership: Leading the creative team with an innovative approach to development, implementation & evaluation of programs, marketing materials, and digital tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership & advises senior management on Meetings, Recognition/Business Development & Creative strategies and risks.
  • Lead team to shape strategies and solutions for a broad range of experiences and content.
  • Oversees Creative projects from inception to execution ensuring that projects result in measurable business goals and drive awareness of Lincoln’s brand, products and/or services.
  • Oversees the planning processes for Meeting and Conference programs and Recognition/Business Development programs
  • Explore new and innovative ways to deliver content and experiences for Meetings & Conferences and Recognition/Business Development experiences
  • Leads departments and teams in a complex, matrixed organization, and works with internal customers across the enterprise. 
  • Ensures that all Meetings, Recognition/Business Development and Creative programs and materials are communicated & understood by all stakeholders.
  • Ensures all collateral content is accurate, relevant & consistent in terms of style, quality tone of voice, & which optimizes awareness of Lincoln’s products &/or services.
  • Establishes, develops, & provides complex performance metrics and benchmarks to track & assess the effectiveness of programs/plans to key senior business leaders.
  • Ensures that all Meetings, Recognition/Business Development and Creative collateral complies with all applicable regulatory requirements and is consistent with Lincoln’s editorial and branding standards.
  • Oversees & leads the development & implementation of policies & procedures for his/her area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with executive/senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Leads the identification, development, and implementation of strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, business unit, and/or the organization for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Leads and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
  • Leads, establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to achieve key business results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Guides and evaluates departmental performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides thought leadership and functional expertise to internal/external stakeholders for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Contributes to business unit/operational and enterprise strategy creation for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Leads/executes approved strategy for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Education

  • Undergraduate degree and 12+ years of comparable work experience required

Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in Marketing, including 5+ years of management, strategy, and influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advocates effectively, readily command attention and respect in groups as demonstrated by people listening to and getting on board with initiatives for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement processes improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully hire, retain, develop and coach staff via a culture of real-time performance feedback, with ability to build both technical and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior/executive management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
