Insurance Canada is looking for a talented Event Manager to add to our team of marketing, subject matter and event experts.

Who you are:

• You believe in Insurance Canada’s mission and our core values

• You have a university or college degree with experience in office administration, communications, project management and / or event management roles

• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills

• You have experience organizing great events or conferences, including, but not limited, to selecting speakers, and determining content, themes and formats

• You have strong interpersonal skills, confidence, poise, integrity and professionalism

• You have excellent people management skills and are able to assess complications and difficulties and swiftly deal with them to ensure client satisfaction

• You have the ability to work independently but also work effectively in a team environment

• You have the ability to juggle priorities in a busy changing office environment, to balance multiple projects at once and adhere to strict deadlines

• You pay strong attention to detail

• You have experience organizing conferences or events

• You have experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

• You have the ability to work outside of regular work hours as required

What you'll do:

Event Management

• Organizing conferences or events, including, but not limited to:

Brainstorming with team members to determine inspiring conference themes;

o Selecting outstanding speakers, both from within Canada and around the world;

o Connecting with the best speakers, sponsors, and participants to determine their interest and availability; and,

o Managing the relationships with great speakers and participants, up to, during and after the event.

Learning and Development

• You will have the opportunity to be mentored by two of the most knowledgeable thought leaders in Canada in their field (both former senior executives in the insurance/technology space).

• Ultimately you will be required to attend the top conferences and events throughout Canada and the world to source outstanding content and speakers.

• You will work within a group of companies, with others from a variety of backgrounds to source ideas and contacts.

Event Organizing

• Critical path development and execution

• Updating and maintaining databases (speakers, sponsors, attendees, etc.)

• Budgeting for events where needed

• Onsite event execution

• Working with the team to select sites for events

• Working with team to source suppliers

• Other team members take care of these items, but may seek your help on occasion with:

o Event registration and on-going communication with event attendees

o Food & beverage planning

o Minute taking at meetings or during conference calls

o Attend or lead committee meetings, board meetings, and conference calls when needed

o Securing all event supplies and ensuring all supplies are available on location for events

o Printed material coordination including coordination with graphic design team

o E-blast coordination, call campaigns, other marketing initiatives as needed

o Website management

Marketing and Communications

• Content creation for various channels including industry publications, social media, blogs, and more

• Drafting press release announcements and creating both printed and electronic communications • Research and writing for the events

• Providing content for update on the website
