Job Summary:

Events are a fundamental part of D2L’s marketing plans, and you will help develop and shape those event experiences for our clients, prospective clients, and staff alike.  We’re looking for a high energy individual who is eager to play a key role in building the D2L events strategy and drive various aspects of event planning and logistics.  And most of all, have a passion for events!

How Will I Make an Impact?:

  • Drive strategy as well as cross-functional planning and coordination and event logistics for Fusion, D2L’s Global User Conference, and associated ancillary events, as well as D2L’s regional Connection events
  • Coordinate and plan annual internal Sales Kick-Off and support monthly Road-to-Readiness Sales enablement events
  • Managing events from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and business objectives.  This includes such things as:
    • Preparing and managing budgets, facilitating purchase requests, and ensuring adherence to financials
    • Work closely to coordinate communications and manage relationships with vendors, executives, event staff, and supporting teams, and attendees, to ensure all events are planned and executed to the D2L standard
    • Performing Venue, Speaker, and Vendor sourcing and presenting selection proposals for executive decisions
    • Manage Food and Beverage, Entertainment, Exhibit, Internet, A/V, Electrical requirements, set-up, and support
    • Facilitate the creation and coordination of communication plans, branding and booth assets, marketing collateral, web pages, registrations, and attendee networking and event experiences
    • Managing and updating hotel room block listings and facilitating travel and accommodation logistics
    • Creating and maintaining event programs and agendas
    • Report post event evaluations and make recommendations for future events
    • Research, reporting and analysis, and data entry as required
  • Other areas of responsibility as assigned within the Marketing Events department

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in event management
  • Excellent time management, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Team player with leadership skills
  • High energy level, demonstrated drive to succeed, and a sense of urgency
  • Knowledge of KPIs and marketing techniques for event management
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills and ability to pick-up new technologies quickly
  • Highly service-oriented and self-motivated
  • Resourceful and adaptable to change
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport with all levels of personnel within D2L as well as with external vendors, clients, and prospective clients
  • Occasional travel will be required

Additional Assets:

  • Experience with venue and vendor contract review and negotiation
  •, Hubspot or Marketo system experience would be an asset
  • Comfort working with Event registration/proposal/speaker management systems (ie. Hubb, CVENT)
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment
