Development and Events Coordinator - Montreal, Quebec

Purpose and General Description

Nature Conservancy of Canada, Quebec Region, seeks a full-time Development (fundraising) and Event Coordinator to directly support the development team. This position reports to the Director of Development. 

The Development Coordinator will play a key role in refining and growing the Quebec Region’s Leaders in ConservationProgram – our membership program which feeds into our Major Gifts Program. The Coordinator will work in support of and with the Director of Development to identify, solicit and steward entry level donors. The incumbent will also work closely with other staff and volunteer solicitors to ensure consistency between our various giving level programs.

The incumbent will also be in charge of all outreach, recognition and fundraising events, as well as taking a lead role for media events.

The ideal candidate will have some demonstrated prior experience in fundraising, proposal and report writing, donor/funder communications and outreach, Raiser’s Edge proficiency, merge mailings, event planning and delivery. This position will include working with existing staff and volunteers to execute successful events, as well as working with service providers to maintain event budgets. The position requires some experience and/or working knowledge in records filing management, along with gift processing and receipting. The position requires a commitment to both donor confidentiality and NCC’s conservation mission and vision.

There will be regular travel throughout Quebec, and occasional travel to other parts of the country.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director of Development and other staff and volunteer solicitors  to manage the region’s Leaders in Conservation (LIC) program, meeting financial targets
  • Plan and implement donor events for the Quebec province, as well as lead the organization of donor tours and other public events; including volunteer coordination
  • Communicate with, provide support and material to those wishing to hold third party fundraising/events on NCC’s behalf
  • Support the Director of Development and other staff and volunteer solicitors for the region through scheduling meetings, taking notes, drafting correspondence, preparing presentations, updating external promotional materials, donor prospect identification, research and preparing briefing notes quickly and efficiently
  • Grant and funder report writing, proposal submissions and tracking
  • Organize events related to the campaign, when requested to do so
  • Maintain a comprehensive donor/funder database (Raisers Edge) and filing system including data entry and some paper back-up
  • Act as an ambassador for Nature Conservancy of Canada
  • Other special projects and tasks as needed and/or assigned by the region’s Director of Development.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Post-secondary education
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in a similar or related position
  • Ability to communicate in both official languages considered an asset
  • Proven experience in event management and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience and comfort working with donors and volunteers;
  • A team player
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional research, correspondence, grant and report writing skills
  • Self-motivated, with superior time management skills and ability to work to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Raisers’ Edge (or other fundraising software); working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and evenings;
  • Creativity and a sense of humour
  • A valid driver’s licence


  • Full-time (5 days) employment contract.
