Full time Adminstration Community Events Event Coordination

Job Description

Senior Events Associate

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA • COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE • FULL-TIME • HOURLY

Starcity provides beautifully designed co-living communities in major cities, and we're on track to welcome thousands (and one day millions) of customers to our communities over the coming years. We have awesome backers including Y Combinator, Bullpen Capital, NEA, Social Capital, Index Ventures and have been featured in notable publications like The New York Times, Business Insider, San Francisco Chronicle, Silicon Valley Magazine, TechCrunch and many more.

Starcity is looking for an Events Associate on our Community Experience team, reporting directly to the Member Events Manager. You will lead several community events per month and deliver an experience that truly wows our members across Starcity’s San Francisco and Oakland communities.

This is a unique role that will allow you to utilize your creativity, build meaningful relationships, and work with a team who truly cares about enriching lives through holistic and diverse events programming. We are looking for a true “people person”, someone kind and empathetic - as you will be instrumental in helping our members acclimate to a new home.

As with most event roles, this will require time outside of regular M-F, 9 to 5 work schedule and we are happy to give you time off to balance that. We often have one to two weeknight events per week. These often go until about 10pm and might be on Thurs/Fri nights, for example. Additionally, we generally host one to three weekend events per month on a Saturday or Sunday from 11am-3pm.

REPSONSIBILITIES
    • Coordinate logistics for educational, health & wellness, volunteering, arts, and other personal development/community events. For example, in the last 6 months we have hosted: a Kombucha making class, a pop-up art gallery, mini music festivals, bi-monthly yoga, volunteer events, surfing classes, and a weekend camping trip. And that’s not everything!
    • Handle all attendee and member interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, ensuring we are always managing expectations and staying true to our brand values
    • Coordinate all aspects of an event: programming, vendor relations, promotion and marketing, on-site hosting, delivery of the wow experience, and evaluate the success of events with event recap, surveys, and reporting
    • Prepare incident reports for member complaints, accidents, thefts, property damage, trespass, contact with law enforcement and any other notable occurrences during events
    • Respond to all event-related inquiries in a timely manner
    • Input event information into events platform (Splash) and marketing materials - ensure all information is accurate
    • Order and shop for event materials and ensure that events team is equipped with all necessary supplies
    • Operate within budget and track expenses
    • Liaise with Starcity accounting team on vendor payments and member reimbursements
    • Ability to bend, lift, and carry 20 lbs from the ground - as you will often have to help set up and bring supplies to events

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience working as an event coordinator, administrative or executive assistant, and/or experience in the hospitality industry
  • Knowledge of Google Calendar and Google Suite platforms
  • A high level of integrity, perseverance and humility
  • An empathetic mindset and passion for community and Member-first customer service
  • Excellent project organization and time management
  • Detail-oriented
  • Passionate, self-starting, intelligent, dedicated, efficient
