Job Description

Term: As soon as possible-Thursday, April 30, 2020

PDAC 2020: The World’s Premier Mineral Exploration & Mining Convention is a four-day annual Convention held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC). It has grown in size, stature and influence since it began in 1932 and today is the event of choice for the world’s mineral industry. In addition to meeting over 1100 exhibitors and 25,000 attendees from 132 countries, it allows attendees the opportunity to attend technical sessions, short courses as well as social and networking events.

Position summary

This full-time contract position will be responsible for numerous tasks relating to convention requirements at the MTCC in addition to collaborating with other Convention/PDAC Team members.

 Duties and responsibilities

 MTCC convention logistics including, but not limited to:

  • Production of the Convention Resume for events at the MTCC (including but not limited to our trade show, presentation sessions, sponsored areas, events, etc.)
  • Ordering AV for all sessions/events at the MTCC from our audio visual supplier
  • Updating floor plans
  • Ordering convention décor and signage from our show decorator
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the Convention Team, other PDAC staff and Convention suppliers
  • Other tasks as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • 7-10 years’ event experience (management level)
  • Bachelors’ degree in marketing/public relations/business administration or related discipline; event-related professional development courses
  • Previous experience working with non-profit organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • Experience working with vendors, outside consultants and other third party suppliers
  • Proven organizational and time management skills to determine work priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and proof reading
  • Superior on-site logistics management; accuracy and attention to detail is critical
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on occasional evenings and weekends where required and agreed
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
