Summary We are seeking a dynamic team member to join our team for a 14 month term position. The role will manage a portfolio of donor accounts, providing support for Children's Miracle Network (CMN) initiatives and accounts, partnership accounts, and providing assistance with campaign and event logistics.

Associate, Community Initiatives & Events – 14 Month Term Position

As a key member of the Community Initiatives & Events (CI) team, the Associate is accountable for the development, growth and stewardship of existing and new donor accounts in support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (ACHF). This includes managing a portfolio of donor accounts, providing support for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) initiatives and accounts, partnership accounts, providing assistance with campaign and event logistics, and administrative duties as required and assigned.

Key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, prospective donors and key stakeholders.
  • Support donors in their fundraising efforts by providing information about the programs, capital equipment and research needs of the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH)
  • Manage and cultivate assigned donor and event accounts including Children’s Miracle Network portfolio of accounts (Partners raising $100,000 and under). This includes monitoring fundraising efforts, donor stewardship, appropriate donor recognition, hospital tours, proposal writing, financials, and presenting/speaking at and attending events as required
  • Provide support to the CMN Director for CMN activities including associated reporting.
  • Provide logistical support for CI team events (lunch and learn activities, meetings, celebrations etc.).
  • Support ACHF signature events and major initiatives as required (i.e., Candy Cane Gala, Miracle Month of May, Champion Child Program, Radiothon).
  • Complete writing assignments as required (updating newsletters, social medial and website posts, proposal writing).
  • Administrative duties as required and assigned.
  • Work in collaboration with the Volunteer Program Coordinator to identify appropriate volunteer engagement opportunities (both ACHF and community requests).
  • Respond to general information requests by mail, e-mail and phone from current and potential donors
  • Maintain a positive and professional image; remain diplomatic and tactful at all times with an understanding of confidentiality in dealing with a variety of issues, stakeholders, and donors.
  • Support effective and inspired donor relations and stewardship practices on behalf of the Foundation.
  • Build knowledge and understanding of all major programs and initiatives.
  • Administrative duties as required and assigned.
  • Model the Foundation’s core values.


  • Post-Secondary degree with a specialization in communication, business, fundraising, or other relevant area; suitable combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of customer service, sales, or other public relations experience; preference will be given to those with direct experience in fundraising.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build positive relationships.
  • Strong project management skills with previous success in prioritization and organization.
  • Energetic with the ability to multi-task in a time sensitive and dynamic environment.
  • Well-developed and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience in building and delivering presentations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Database proficiency required; experience with Raiser’s Edge software is considered an asset.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to travel within the city limits.
