Development Officer, Fundraising and Special Events

Moncton Headstart has served the Greater Moncton community for over 43 years. Headstart is seeking an outgoing and energetic individual for the new position of Development Officer, Fundraising and Special Events. This is a fundraising position focused on revenue generation and participant recruitment in Greater Moncton. Candidates should be highly organized, detail –oriented, and have excellent writing and communication skills.


  • Become familiar with Moncton Headstart’s mission, programs, and events and be comfortable speaking and educating others;
  • Ability to project a professional and knowledgeable image on behalf of Moncton Headstart;
  • Responsible for achieving revenue, volunteer, participant recruitment, and event management goals;
  • In tandem with the Executive Director and the Fundraising Committee, develop prospect recruitment and engagement plans within the community to build awareness about Moncton Headstart’s Core Programs and Community Outreach Programs;
  • Recruit, train, and be a resource for the Fundraising Committee to assist in Major Gift and Planned Giving fundraising;
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and volunteer committees to assist in event execution;
  • Plan and execute social media strategies to recruit donors and volunteers for the Core and Community Outreach programs;
  • Solicit event sponsors and secure in-kind donations of goods and services;
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records/data reports to evaluate and manage donations and events;
  • Prepare Foundation grant applications as required;
  • Assist in other Moncton Headstart events as needed and serve as the go-to person for all fundraising and development activities;

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or related experience and education;
  • Previous experience with a charitable community organization highly preferred;
  • Results-oriented fundraising or sales professional with a minimum of two years of successful experience in fundraising, networking, community organizing and/or outside sales skills;
  • Proficient in writing, public speaking and social media platforms;
  • Able to travel within assigned geography;
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds;
  • Has flexibility to work nights and occasional weekends;
  • Bilingualism is an asset;
