Schedule Varied

Schedule Description Work hours as required based on the schedule of events  


Coordinates the selling and booking of space for TRU hotel operation and services for conferences and special events; prepares marketing material; provides on-site inspections; monitors services for special events.


  1. Assesses client requirements, conducts tours and provides information and quotes on available services. Meets with clients and takes reservations for facility, TRU hotel rooms and conference services
  2. Promotes conference service, TRU hotel rooms and conference facilities to TRU and the Kamloops community
  3. Reviews marketing programs; advertising and promotional material for approval by Director. Some preparation work required
  4. Coordinates complete range of conference services for clients including registration, accommodation, logistic support, catering, etc.
  5. Enters events information into events software database. Books TRU hotel rooms and coordinates with residence operator
  6. Monitors events and client's requirements for all conference and special event bookings
  7. Provides on-site inspections for all event bookings, including room set-ups, equipment needs, and facility cleanliness
  8. Liaises with new student residence for conference bookings

Director, Ancillary Services



  • Grade 12 plus Events and Convention, Hospitality Management Diploma or equivalent.


  • Two years' related hospitality experience, in the selling and booking of facilities, events and conferences, including experience with electronic data entry (with 80 key strokes per minute) and word processing (with 45 words per minute).


  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to plan and organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Good knowledge of hospitality industry


  • Sitting at a desk and computer for periods of time, general office conditions.
