Events and Outreach Specialist (Part-time) 558 - NKLA Coalition Los Angeles, CA, USA Salary Part Time Location: Los Angeles, CA Working as part of the Best Friends Animal Society- Los Angeles and NKLA team, the Events and Outreach Specialist will facilitate running of Best Friends and NKLA events such as the Super Adoption weekends, Strut Your Mutt, and more. The Events and Outreach Specialist will also represent Best Friends Animal Society at local and third-party events. This position will work closely with Best Friends, the NKLA Coalition, and Volunteer departments, as well as other divisions and department managers, to ensure overall success of events. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Assist with all planning and logistics for Best Friends third-party and outreach events and national events with responsibilities to include: work with Events and Outreach Lead, Best Friends Volunteer department and the local L.A. team to create volunteer leads for events, coordinate training, and manage teams of volunteers on-site at events, assist with the site plan, setup and tear down of Best Friends events, perform pre-event preparation/loading and post-event loading of supplies, provide high quality customer service all people involved in event experience (site vendors, event hosts, potential adopters and general public) as well as resolving problems and addressing any client dissatisfaction, assist in compilation of wrap up reports Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred but not required Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail, and Google Drive Ability to use and manage registration and networking software and web sites Experience with motivating teams of volunteers or other staff on projects Experience in successful event planning with a variety of events at local and national levels on a limited budget Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, and time management skills High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations Personable, professional, positive, energetic, pro-active, tactful, and diplomatic Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes long hours near/during event Physical Requirements: Ability to spend extended periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions (including rain, heat and cold) at events Ability to routinely lift 40-50 pounds Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time Ability to stand for long periods of time while performing work requiring concentration and manual dexterity Ability to work around all types of animals with basic animal handling skills Lifting and handling animals of varying sizes and breeds, bending, stooping, and walking on a daily basis Some travel required Thank you for your interest in pursuing a career at Best Friends Animal Society.
