Position Overview City Year Kansas City is seeking a Development Operations & Events Manager to support City Year Kansas City’s efforts to reach its yearly revenue goal of more than $2 million by serving as lead on City Year Kansas City’s first annual gala and other external events, as well as the management of the Development Department’s fundraising database and internal operations process. This role will work closely with the Development Director and Executive Director and is ideal for a detail-oriented and highly organized individual interested in a career in nonprofit management or fundraising. Job Description Primary Responsibilities Event Planning & Implementation Serve as the main event lead – or Producer – in planning creative, inspirational events that powerfully communicate City Year’s service, impact, and need for support Oversee all event logistics (event timelines, creating run-of-shows, speaker memos, venue scheduling, etc.) Collaborate with City Year HQ staff on designing event collateral (program books, brochures, posters, etc.) Maintain database of event invitees and help create follow-up engagement plan for event attendees Lead cross-department trainings for City Year staff and AmeriCorps members that participate in events Create budgets for each event led by Development Department Track event purchases to ensure expenses stay within the confines of anticipated budget Hire vendors for external event services as needed (A/V, caterers, entertainment, bartenders, etc.) Development Operations Maintain the integrity and quality of City Year Kansas City’s donor database, as well as provide back of the house support for all fundraising efforts, including gift processing, creating invoices, and tracking donor proposal/report deadlines Track fundraising revenue and prepare weekly revenue reports Ensure that donor accounts, donor activities, and donations are all updated in City Year’s internal database Assist with external meeting preparation through scheduling and creating drafts of meeting agendas/collateral Act as site point for City Year Kansas City’s website, providing maintenance and updates as needed Provide additional administrative support to the Executive Director and Development Director when required Organization Initiatives and Site Support Participate in cross-department collaboration groups aimed at achieving site-wide goals Attend regional and national City Year calls, meetings, and conferences focused on professional development, best practice sharing, and developing/communicating City Year’s long-term impact strategy On an as needed basis, represent City Year Kansas City in community and networking events Compensation and Benefits Full time employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with experience.
